FUNKATEER DANCE: Past, Present, Future

​A documentary film about a one-of-a-kind urban dance created in the 1970s by Ed Miller in Inkster, Michigan.​ Including interviews with members from Funkateer Dancers, Unstoppables, Magic, Police Dancers, Gigolos, Bandits, Cloud Steppers, and more. This film tells the story of the genesis of a truly original dance, its inspirations, and its legacy. Finally, this documentary shares the Funkateer Dancers’ influence on dance culture, their trials & tribulations, and highlights.​

Ronald Ford Jr. is the director, producer, and cinematographer of Funkateer Dance: Past, Present, Future and has been a dancer for over 45 years specializing in the Funkateer Dance inspired- Detroit Poplocking. Ron, who is also a music artist known as QWNTYM, has won multiple grants, including Knights Foundation, Kresge Foundation, and Creative Capitol for dance, choreography, film, and music. In addition to teaching Detroit Poplocking at Eastern Michigan University, he has performed with his dance collective, Unstoppables, alongside Afrika Bambaataa, Los Hermanos, AUX 88, and more.
